SMNA is thrilled to announce the inspiring campaign "Spruce Up San Martin." A committee of residents, SMNA board members, and Master Gardeners, has convened to beautify the two medians at the intersection of San Martin Avenue and Monterey Road. One of the committee members is Dan Keith who has tirelessly and voluntarily rake up pine needles and trash for years in pursuit of a cleaner, more appealing environment. With help from interested San Martin residents, the committee is fostering a spirit of collaboration and care in moving forward with sprucing up the village core of San Martin.
These medians have not been improved or maintained by the County for many years, but our committee is eager and committed to creating a positive and well-deserved makeover. We have consulted an arborist to assess the existing trees and engaged with Santa Clara County Roads for guidance. We have received valuable insights from Master Gardeners who have recommended plants and trees for the area. VTA awarded the project a Transit Oriented Communities grant and has recognized it as a compelling beautification project that would uplift our surroundings, including the VTA bus stop at the south median. We are delighted to have secured funding to bring this vision to life.
So-Cal landscaper has volunteered her time to carefully craft a design to introduce colorful plants and trees that will truly "Spruce Up San Martin." This preliminary plans have been well-received by members of the public and SMNA. And this project is anticipated to inspire excitement and motivation for future transformation! This necessary update will infuse vibrancy into our environment, highlighting the esthetic benefits for both pedestrians and drivers that pass through, stop off to shop at Rocca's or relax at Naturals Boutique Spa & Salon. This transformation hopes to bring a renewed sense of beauty and pride to our community.
We are filled with anticipation as this project awaits approval from Santa Clara County Roads for updated irrigation and essential labor support. Once we receive the green light, we will call upon San Martin residents to join us in planting the replacement trees, shrubs, and other elements to breathe life into "Spruce Up San Martin."
We would be grateful for your support and enthusiasm as we move forward with this project. We will keep everyone informed about this groundbreaking project as we move forward. This marks the first of many initiatives that will rejuvenate our community. Together, we are on the path to "Sprucing Up," the village core of San Martin.
