The San Martin Neighborhood Alliance (SMNA) is pleased to announce that our organization will hold a District 1 Supervisor Candidate Forum on Thursday, January 27, 2022. This forum will be held at the San Martin Lions Club at 12415 Murphy Ave., San Martin, CA. and, virtually via Zoom.  Doors open at 6:00 P.M. and forum will start at 6:30 PM, ending at 8:30 PM.  Please RSVP at info@sanmartinneighbor.org by January 24th, 2022.  Seating is limited.  If you prefer to attend virtually, please indicate Zoom in your reply and we will send you the link.  COVID-19 protocols will be in affect.  (Attendees must wear face mask and observe spaced seating).

The purpose of the “Candidate Forum” is to provide residents of  San Martin, Morgan Hill and Gilroy, an opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their views about how they plan to represen the South County. Questions have been complied from community members and presented to the candidates in advance.  Should time permit, we may take questions at the forum.  A comment card will be made available to those that have a question at the meeting.

 

At the time of posting, three (3) of the candidates running for the position of Santa Clara County District 1 Supervisor have confirmed their attendance.

 

The candidates names are listed in alphabetical order by last name:

 

Sylvia Arenas–San Jose City council member, representing District 8–waiting for confirmation.  Just announced candidacy January 5th, 2022.

 

Rich Constantine— Mayor of Morgan Hill serving his second two-year term, also a retired firefighter for the City of San Jose.

 

Johnny Khamis– Former San Jose City Councilmember, former financial and insurance advisor.

 

Claudia Rossihas served a four-year elected term on the Morgan Hill Unified School District and has been a nurse for many years.
